Protecting cucumbers in greenhouses
Among the common diseases of cucumbers are viral, fungal and bacterial.
Root rot can spread significantly if water and temperature conditions are not observed, causing the death of both young and adult plants. They are caused by fungal pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum, Pythium debaryanum, Verticillium albo-atrum, Rhizoctonia aderholdii and bacterial Pectobacterium (Erwinia) carotovorum.
Viral diseases. Cucumber is most often affected by the cucumber common mosaic virus - CMV and the cucumber green mottle mosaic virus - CGMMV. The main measures for the prevention and control of viral diseases are post-harvest cleaning of greenhouses from plant debris, disinfection of the greenhouse, quarantine, vaccination and treatment with antiviral drugs, starting with seedlings.
