
Roses can be affected by fungal, bacterial, and viral diseases.
Root rot can become widespread if water and temperature conditions are not met, causing the death of both young and mature plants. Caused by pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum, Pythium debaryanum, Verticillium albo-atrum, and Rhizoctonia solani.
Infectious blight or stem canker of roses (Coniothyrium wernsdorffiae), common rose canker (Neonectria galligena), cytosporosis (Cytospora rosarum), branch dieback (Botryosphaeria dothidea), and cylindrocladium (Cylindrocladium scoparium).
Among bacterial diseases, the most common are: bacterial root canker (Agrobacterium tumefaciens), bacterial stem canker (Pseudomonas syringae), and bacterial wilt (Pseudomonas (Ralstonia) solanacearum).
Viral diseases: rose streak virus (RSV), rose wilt virus (RWV), tomato wilt virus (TSWV), tobacco necrosis virus (TNV), and tomato ringspot virus (ToTSV). The main measures for preventing and controlling viral diseases include post-harvest clearing of greenhouses from plant debris, greenhouse disinfection, quarantine, vaccination, and antiviral treatments, starting with seedlings.
